Queer Food

Queer Food is a Canberra-based certified social enterprise that uses culinary arts to celebrate LGBTQIA+ history and support the local community. Founded in late 2023 by trans-masculine chef Andy de Groot, the brand was inspired by his time at Melbourne’s Torres Strait Islander-led restaurant, Mabu Mabu, where he saw food used as a vehicle for community empowerment.The brand prioritises hiring and training queer and trans people facing barriers to mainstream employment. Queer Food also reinvests revenue into a dedicated fund that helps trans and gender-diverse people access gender affirming healthcare.
